Piano Tuning FAQ

What does Pro Piano’s tuning service include?

Pro Piano’s piano tuners cover tuning, regulation, and appraisal for grand and upright pianos. Tuning adjusts string tension to correct pitch to the standard concert pitch of A440-442; regulation adjusts the mechanical action of the piano (touch and responsiveness); appraisal evaluates a piano’s condition and value. Each is priced and booked separately, since a piano may need one, two, or all three depending on its condition.

Should I tune my piano after moving it?

Yes. Pianos are sensitive to changes in position, temperature, and humidity, so tuning right after a move is recommended to bring the instrument back to proper pitch in its new location. This applies whether the move is across town or just to a different room in a climate-controlled space, since even small environmental shifts can affect tuning stability.
