Pro Piano Records
Technical Credit and Production Information
Many people ask us about our technical production "secrets."
Well, we cannot honestly call them "secrets," but we cannot really
share every aspect of our procedures, either.
Most true "recording and engineering" matters are handled by the
Pro Piano's own "great one," Carl Talbot...formerly of
Classic Sound (owned principally by Tom Lazarus.) Carl is a real
genius at engineering, recording, editing and mastering, having
done nearly all the work for Pro Piano Records since its inception.
In the future, we will begin to list many of the pieces of equipment
and gear used in our process. Of course the names Neumann, Sonic
Solutions, Tascam DA88, Stax, B & A, SONY are all major brands
relied upon at sometime or other in our recording process.
We use only "glass mastering" for replication of our CD discs,
allowing us to control the reproductive quality much more closely.
Nobue Hirabayashi, President of Mt. Design, has been the
sole graphic design artist for Pro Piano Worldwide since late
1999. We have greatly enjoyed working with Mt. Design and its
creative leader, Miss Hirabayashi. Before that time, Our graphic
design work was undertaken by Marietta Méhes Gat, and originally
by Kyoko Hasegawa.
Photo work has been about 80% Yoshi Ono (the fabulous Yoshi-San,)
Don Hunstein (famous for "the look" of Glenn Gould and
other Columbia greats,) and newcomer Wendy Stulberg.
Piano tuning has principally been done by John Guttmann
(a twenty year vet with Pro Piano New York.) Most of the "session
standby work" is done by RDLR. Readers must "guess" who
RDLR is, because he will not permit himself to be identified officially.
Kenneth Ricci, many years a stalwart of the New York operation,
has taken much of the responsibility for scheduling, co-ordinating
and planning actual sessions, mass mailings, distribution matters
and day to day operations. His contributions are incredibly valuable
to our success.
Daigo Sai (the calm master of crisis situations) has taken
over completely the mail department and much of the customer request
activities.
One of the most important members of our staff is a person one
never sees or talks with. Miyuki Nakamura is completely
in charge of our ever improving web site. Miyuki operates out
of the Pro Piano Los Angeles office, and has greatly enhanced
our visibility on the web.
Thanks to all these wonderful folks for helping us grow and prosper.
Combined, we have a great team.
